Yeah I miss ole Skat alot. At one time I would have loved to see him and Steve wing together

I was in the 412th, back in the day.

I quit threads are for the birds.

I don't know if I'd post or not but I've been flying with a lot of the people here for 14 years and I don't think saying goodbye after all that time would be out of line.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

It wasn't the "what" that drew the flak but the "how" of it.

Now that you mention it, I do vaguely remember dTango saying something about that once.

Yeah, I'm glad Gaboon posted his leaving as I wouldn't have known otherwise. I talked to him on the phone last night, and he said he probably should of posted a little different, but he's really frustrated with having to work though all these bugs that are coming with the patches. And I have to agree that it does get old, constantly trying to tune your rig after these patches and updates.

The guy has a monster computer that should run this game as smooth as glass....but it won't. I'm trying to get him to stick around and tough it out. He's running Windows7 and I think that is most of the problem. It's just one thing after another with the updates. He lost him cool and posted here to let some steam off I think.

That is ridiculous, you make it sound as if he is a prog sys developer  working on a major project with client deadlines and production impact. He just another dweeb like the rest of us playing a online game.

If he finds that stressful and frustrating then he needs to see a doctor.   :lol

Well maybe I need to see a doctor too, because I agree that's it's frustrating paying for something that I can't get to work the way it should. I pay to enjoy the game, not constantly downloading patches only to find out there's a bug with the elevators or my sound pack I've been using for 2 or 3 years will now cause stutters and freezes.

Is it too much to ask for to just log on and play? I've updated drivers, patched for the processor and a ton of other things to get the game working right. And as soon as I do....BAM! another patch to fix some more bugs! It gets old man.

The doctor would say, "find a new hobbie"

Welcome to computers.

Seriously, my older brother is a relative computer novice having only had his first laptop for a few years now.  At least we talk on the phone a lot since he always has questions and needs frequent tech support.

To make a long story short he was very very frustrated one day and, after a few drinks, was doing his "this is BS... why can't they just make them work... I pay for something I expect it to work... blah blah blah" thing.  I had to calmly explain to him that no two computers are the same, given differences in hardware, software, application settings, etc., etc., etc. and that the hardware and software were made by many many companies independant of one another so, the likelyhood for unforseen conflicts was high.  Add user created content (soundpacks, applications, etc.) and it just gets worse.

Frankly, it's almost a wonder that they work at all.  For the benefits I guess you just have to be able to put up with some occasional pain.

I just don't get this. I've run AHII now off two nodes of the home LAN - 1 a Mac running Windows via Bootcamp, the other a decent-but-nothing-great TigerDirect PC running Windows. AH has run something like flawlessly on both once I got past a little initial teething problems - mainly on the Mac. That last was worth the effort since it runs AH great.

bagrat says it best, even if he can't spell worth a damn - and is a bit touchy about that: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,286851.msg3636161.html#msg3636161
