Im after opinions:  Which is better?  2 or 3 gun loadout on La7.

I just discovered the 3 gun option last night and I like it  .

The 3 cannon option is much better.

Those cannon are much more modern and have a better muzzle velocity.  They are also lighter, that is why it has 3 instead of 2.

And the third one is non sycronized. Which I assume gives it an rof adanvatage and fills in the snap shot quite nicley. (I could be imagining things)

You are.   The 3 cannon are mounted assymetrically, with two on the left side of the nose. It's kinda hard to put a cannon barrel through the middle of a radial engine I think.

Muzzle velocity was the same between the ShVAK and the B-20 (they used the same ammo).  The B-20's advantage was lightness - it weighed less than a .50 Browning and fired just as fast.

Not sure about "real life"(TM)
but in AH the 3 cannon options is better : The aircraft seems lighter and there's less bullet drop...

Thnks Juzz. I was just dreaming about my 3 * 20mm 190 d12 with the center gun unsycronised.

Like Tony said (and he's the true expert), ballistically the ShVak and the B20 are identical. In other words bullet drop is EXACTLY the same.

If your encountering something different, well... either your imagining it, or you were smoking something pretty serious last night.

If I remember correctly the overall armamemnt weight of the 3 cannon B-20 + Ammo, in comparison to the 2 cannon ShVak + Ammo, is within 10 pounds of each other.

In other words, fly the 3 cannon version. You get 30% more firepower, without any weight penalty.

Did I look at it wrong, or does the 3 gun option actually have 25% less ammo per gun than the two-gun version?

If you're the kind of pilot who gets CLOSE before firing, then maybe the two-gun LA7 might be better because of its longer clip.

JAB,
With the three B-20s if you get close, you don't need a long clip, just a half second press of the button and the job is done.

Am I the only dumb person who didn't know that we have 3 cannon option of La-7 before this thread? It sure MUCH, MUCH better then the 2 version.
