Well done
« on: April 17, 2010, 09:51:41 AM »
I would like to say to my boys job well done.  :rock From the defense at A81 to the annihalation of the strat it was a solid outting. We were shy 1 squad on 76 defense. To the Swamp Dragons and Rolling Thunder, I apologize for no fighter cover. My thought was they would bulk up over A65 and V71, and that you could just hit and run. It sounds like Kermit put a few extras back there. However you made a difference Good job. Good job to you Kermit and your crews. Well fought! :salute

See yall next week!

What a showing!  Who says discoes are always bad?  I got discoed about 3 1/2 sectors to target in the P51B and barely got back out the gate before the airfields were closed off.

While enroute to catch up to my escort assignment to LCA, I came across 109s & JU88s that were inbound to the back door of A81 and was able to have it trasnsmitted.  Had I not discoed, I would have never come across them.  They had to be scratching their heads as to why a single Pony was in the middle of their formation.  I nosed down and sped away safely to catch up to my assigned escort group and get the 24s home intact.

A81 was well defended and the LCA made it back to base intact.

We were not aware that other bomber groups were coming to A65 or we would have regrouped and come back.  For that, I apologize.  Our assignment was clear, escort LCA to target and back home safely.

Over all, we are stoked of the outcome and are proud to be a part of FSO.

Slipknot's action to transmit the Ju88 position saved A81.   :furious

V71 and V75 were the least two defended areas for the axis, but because of teamwork, other defensive groups were able to assist in attacking those unescorted B26s after they bombed V71 and were headed to V75.  The early allied attacks with heavy P47s worked great to get to the target, but did suffer heavy losses.
I think we all experienced victories and defeats all over the map.  Those that continued to stick around for the entire frame were able to find a fight for the full 2 hours.

:salute Bannor well done with your plans and execution.   :rock

One of those 'fortunes of war' things slipknot! I remember hearing the call. As a matter of fact, I think all the B24s discod or towered about 2 min into flight, all right in front of me. A slight bit of panic on my part since they were to be the first big strike on 65. LOL, it looks like they were better gun platforms than bombers! :x

I agree!  My squad has been chatting this one up.  Even though we didn't get many kills and some perished, everyone in the squad had a blast.

That was great CMing & CiCing guys.  Hats off to you!

VF-17 (C205's) had just refueled and rearmed after escorting our 110 jabos into the V76 base they were tasked with hammeriing before the 88s arrived overheard with their escort. We got the 110s on target and knocked down all the Spits that were defending there (we lost one to an accidental bailout...hope he makes it back from behind enemy lines) with the help of TC and guys. We then scattered and headed for a rendezvous point out over the V70 area.

Then we turned northwest and eased up the coastline and ran into a flight of P-47s low and knocked some of them down and lost another pilot due to a turn into the water at a high rate of speed...we hope he can swim. We still had some planes in high cover and they encountered a pony escorted bomber group and fought there way out of the area while the rest of us were on the deck and came across a friendly that was playing tag with an A-20. We helped him knock the A-20 down and then we headed out of the area to rearm/refuel our remaining 8 birds at A35. We then went west to regroup over the flack base and while there gathering our flights back together we got the call that bombers were inbound to A65 around 15k. We just happened to be around 20k and we went full throttle and nosed down to get there a little quicker. When we came on station the B-26 formations were just visible from the NE coming into the base. We split up into our pairs and went after bomber formations. I lost my wingman after releasing him to attack a formation and he bailed successfully after damaging at least 2 of the 3 bombers. I joined up with another pair and we went after another formation. About the time I opened up on the bombers I had my engine hit and it seized immediately; my other flight mate had the same situation about 10 seconds later and we both bailed out of our dead rides over the water and sat out the fight waiting on a rescue boat.

The final tally for VF-17 was:

VF-17 Jolly Rogers stats:
Pilots: 10 Kills: 8 Assists: 9
Obj Destroyed: 0 Deaths: 1 Landed: 3
Bailed: 4 Captured: 0 Crashed: 1
Ditched: 1 Disco'd: 0

<S> Reschke & VF-17.

Did you guys get the license plate numbers of those B-26s?  ;) :lol

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Nope I couldn't see the mudsuckers for all the oil blown all over the windscreen. I can imagine that tail gunner giving me the sign of international relations though.
