Oh I'm jealous. Always wanted to lose both wing tips. That has got to be the holy grail of part loss while maintaining flight!

I've managed just about all the different combinations of damage that can be done to a 38 I think.  My previous best, in my mind anyway, was the double engine fires.  But this was the first double wing loss and still flying effort.

I'm so proud :aok

Child's play in a Schwalbe   :devil

I do it all the time        :noid

Landing one in that condition however, is a completely S.A.P.P. inspired experience  :rofl

This definitely trumps duel engine fires. I've done that maneuver several times, but this... whole other level.

Without sounding disrespectful.......  Are you sure it just wasn't you that could not do it?  Never happened to me in a Lightning but I've landed successfully in several craft not having wingtip's.  (262, P47m, 109k4)

It flies with both wingtips and ailerons missing!  Couldn't do that before.

I can't say what a double tipping feels like on the controls, but a 38 missing a tip loses much more authority than the other birds you mentioned.  (In my experience, anyway)

Doolittle already showed that you can fly bombers from CVs.  :bolt:

I thought about that the other day and had to try it.

You can actually take off a carrier now in a B - 25H with 3K in bombs and 25% fuel. Any more fuel than that though and your toast  :lol

No question that my 38 flying is suspect, but in years of breaking 38s, I've never kept one in the air controllable with no wingtips or ailerons before.  Considering I've scattered more cartoon 38 parts then any 5 cartoon 38 pilots combined, it was a surprise when it kept flying. :)

I know 262 guys have done it, but I've never run across it in our cartoon AH 38 til now

I've never done that in a P-38, but I was able to ascertain that further reduction of the Dora's wingspan doesn't help maneuverability.   :)

I'll have to post of my film but I took off from a CV in a B24 with 8 x 1000lbers, 50%, and only 3 engines.  :D

I was a victim of SAPP tonight  :noid I tried to make the B38 into a flaming B38, but instead he reversed and filled my cockpit with lead!
