Hard crashing
« on: April 27, 2010, 07:31:56 PM »
Hey guys, hopefully I can go through this without getting everyone confused. I have a home built PC, and its been built since 2008. I have never had any problems out of AH till about 3 days ago. Now I cant go a mission (flying) without the game locking up hard and me having to reset the computer. It did it 6 times today. I would be flying along, then the game would start to studder and then lock up. Some times it would be a black screen with the sound going as if its on a loop. Then I would get a olive drab screen with the sound constant. I would have to restart the computer to get it to work again, only for the game to lock up. I am suspect that the sound card might be causing the trouble, but Im not quite sure. Hopefully someone on here can help me out. Here is my DXDIAG report.

You really need to update that ATI video card driver.

The symptoms you are describing are fairly consistent witha  computer that is either over-heating, or the power supply is possibly failing.

It could also just be Vista.  Vista is pretty good at corrupting itself all on it own.

It is Vista.  If ReadyBoost and Superfetch is enabled, the page file is going to be filled up with a bunch of stuff within 30 minutes of the computer starting up.
