Suggestions (3 missing craft..)

I've got a suggestion for AH, even though I won't be able to fly without 3D (maybe at work...?).

The 3 craft I have *always* felt were missing from previous games such as WarBirds, FighterAce, and in two cases Confirmed Kill (it has 1 of the 3), are all Russian.

These craft, greatly overlooked, are the IL-2 Shturmovik, the Tu-2 and Pe-2 medium bombers.

The Il-2 would be a great ground attack weapon, much like a P39 but much better armored and with a rear gunner.

The Tu-2 and the Pe-2 are similar, in some cases, and are about equivilant to the US B-25.

These would give you more options than US-only craft.

I suppose it would also be nice to have some others, like the Brit Lancs, and that whatitsname lighter bomber (Wellington?). Jap bombers are already in WB, but they really suck, IMO Not enough defenses, strength, or payload for long missions.

Just some thoughts. And I don't know if any of those are already in the game, or slated for inclusion.

And, a last minute thought: The Liberator!!

Damned tough bomber, it is. Again, not for any specific reason, just for more options than just the buffs.

If you want to fly a IL-2 Sturmie, go DL Airwarrior, and fly it there. It will at least give you a taste of the basic characteristics of the aircraft.

Basically, take the Stuka (which I will assume your familiar with from WB's), add another 1000 lbs and remove about 500hp (not really, just making a point) and then you have the Sturmi  

Its one fat huge armoured flying pig.

In air to air combat it can only be classified as an ammo sponge  

Now, if you want to see a Russian plane (well almost) that can be used for ground attack, can compete Air to Air, and fits in well with the current planeset....

But the Stuka sucks!

And, that's an added 1000 pounds of ordanance, in the "Sturmie". Also, I wanted it included exactly for the characteristic you named. It's an ammo sponge, to the max! It had some of the heaviest armor on any plane around at the time. This would be excellent in game. If you fly WB, you may be sick and tired of single 20mm shots that kill your engine, or that kill the pilot, or that blow your fuel tank. It gets old sometimes. I'd like an armored pig, if I'd get a lotta bombs on it  

Maybe that's just me? Then again, I don't like the Y-wing too much in XvT/XWA

I've never DLed AirWarrior. It seems rather.... old. To me, anyway.

I think AW has porked the Il-2, just like they did the Yak-9D.  In RL, the Il-2 could be flown with more maneuverability than many think, especially after the wings were swept back a little.  Quite a few Il-2 pilots bagged 109s in air combat.
