ability to shoot smoke rds. out of M8's
« on: May 13, 2010, 09:03:55 PM »
this would be a change specifically for the tactically-minded gv'er, but i think that the ability for the M8 to carry smoke rounds would be helpful, especially if we run some gv events in the SEA

what i mean by this is that in a tactical situation, the M8's could lay out smoke for the town-killing gv's and the M3's

Did M8s actually ever carry smoke rounds?

today, LITERALLY, is the first day i was in a prolonged GV engagement that included more than 15 smoke rounds fired. i don't see why the M8 would need them. The M8 used its speed as a defensive, tanks need smoke for concealment and carry it themselves

Not smoke rounds, but they were sometimes equipped with smoke pots (which are fixed to the vehicle).  In Brit service they may have carried smoke dischargers (at least Avalon Hill thinks so), but my 10 second attention span can't find anything on-line to back that up.

historically, i dont think the Americans did this, but the Germans used their halftracks in front of the tanks, then they would turn perpendicular to the tanks and deploy smoke to cover the advance
