Rudders aren't functioning
« on: May 20, 2010, 05:28:29 PM »
Went to play today and found ( in fight ) that my rudders stopped working,  landed and tried everything I could think of. I could see the values change in the Map controller window but he rudder wouldn't operate. I went to advanced tab and saw that the RAW window line disappeared when I depressed the rudder. [/img] I re loaded the game and the same thing hap]pend... CH rudder Pedals

Have you tried calibrating in them in Windows?
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

Alpha81,
the addressed urls are saying "not valid" for those screenshots

if these are USB CH rudder pedals, your system may have dropped them via "sitting idle without input" or you may need to unplug them and reinsert the plug in the USB port or a different USB port

sometimes people will have their USB resources set to such as it drops/kills the power &/or connection to USB devices especially if you have power saving management turned on

I know under both XP and also Windows 7 Ult. 64 bit. I have my USB ports set to always on..

also if you have backed up your jsm files in Aces high...... you might want to just reload them into the C:\hitech creations\Aces high\settings\  subfolder ( if you have good backup copies ) and just over write the ones in that settings folder

calibrating in Windows, calibrating in CH Control Manager & then within Aces High

hope this helps

If he's using the latest version of Control Manager, he can only calibrate in Control Manager and AH.  The latest CM disables the Window calibration applet and only relies on the CM calibration applet now.

with a little detective work this is the picture he's posting.

But the same goes for your setup as well. Calibrate in windows first, start the game then calibrate there.

Neither was I until I updated to the latest version and tried to calibrate in Windblows.

They're plugged in...
Didn't have an issue until today. Rebooted my machine 3 times today loading software for Photo Shop. (unusual for me to reboot three times in a day)
Logged on and rudder wasn't functioning at all.
Tried everything I could think of...came to uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
Rudders worked! Then I remembered that I scale my Rudder, I do that and BINGO the rudder ceases to work.
Re flash my Stick (TM Cougar) Confirm operation in Windows Control Panel (game controllers), Calibrated in the Cougar Control Panel as well. Never have calibrated in windows. Don't know where to do that.

In-game, in the options of Map Controllers the number values move as they are supposed to when I operate the Rudder. However in the advanced tab/button the window/scale on the right under the RAW scale, the green indicator vanishes any time I depress the rudder left or right...Help?!?!?!

OK, so I calibrate my stick a dozen times through this issue and that doesn't fix the issue...I'm scratching my head  looking at the Map Controller window and I see a button that says "Calibrate Axis" I figure what the hell, I select Rudder and calibrate just the rudder,,,,IT WORKS!  I have no clue as to why but it does... Thanks for your input

Re-run the install for the CH drivers and CM Manager.

Also try moving onto different USB ports. CH products are USB 1.01. If you have them on a USB bus or external HUB mixed with USB 2.0 devices you can get mixed USB performance. You can determine the USB type of your devices with an application like PC Wizard 2008 or later. One way to tell if you have them mixed, is your CPU at idle spiking up to 5% alot and never really setteling down to 0% for any length of time. That spiking will be due to DPC's and hardware interupts keeping the CPU busy because of the mixed USB devices on a single bus.

I discoverd all of this because I have CH USB Pro Throttle and Fighterstick mixed with Saitek Pro rudder peddels. The peddels are USB 2.0 and the CH devices are USB 1.01. With them all on my external USB powered bus my CPU would never settel at 0% idle. It constantly spiked between 1% and 7% due to the mixed USB types on the external USB HUB. I also lost callibration and button control in the game for my joystick occasiaonaly. When I moved my CH products to USB ports on the back of my PC seperate from the internal bus the external HUB was connected to, my CPU ideled at 0% and calibration held in the game.

Hey Bustr,

I noticed the behavior You spoke about. Not sure how to solve it.
Can You clarify Your solution?
Is It sufficient to connect ch products on usb 1.0 ports only?

Don't mix USB types on an external USB 2.0 powered HUB. CH products are USB 1.01 so connect them to USB ports on the back of your PC.
