I`ve pretty well figured out the essential`s for playing AH, but there is one thing that continues to elude me; and that`s getting my joystick to "settle down" (At least a little) while firing at an opposing player....I understand that there always will be gunsight shake, given the nature of combat flight, but what am I missing in the scaling settings to reduce this "shake" as much as possible?....What settings do you use?.....

what planes are you flying? just wondered because with some its hard to get the nose under control however you have your stick set up, eg. Spit XIV doesnt settle as well as VIII/IX, mossie and early jugs when slow have lots of nose swing (yaw instability) etc.

Well, being a refugee from FA, right now I`m flying all the planes to get a feeling for the plane sets....That might be the problem...It wasn`t much of a concern when flying in FA at the Level 10 ( cockpits only, torque on etc...)...Perhaps I`ll make a list on each plane that I fly and note  the stability of each.... Thanks.....

If I may make a suggestion.  Pick an AC and stick with it until comfortable with it then move on. Jumping AC to AC will hamper the transition to AH IMO.

Here's a picture of Ghosth's stick setup....

The sliders, going from left to right represent your stick movement, or your input.

The sliders from bottom to top represent the control input to the plane in the game.

So in this picture you can see that Ghosth has his setup so that the first quarter/third of his "yank" on the stick dose little in changing the control surfaces to his plane, but as he moves the stick farther thru his "yank" he gets more/quicker response of his planes controls.

So to get rid of "nose bounce" you want to have the first few sliders low and not change much between steps... depending on how heavy handed you are with your stick. When I came over from Air Warrior I flew mostly in the "relaxed" realism arenas so was use to really yanking on the stick. I have since learn to be very easy and smooth on the stick over the years. Most of my sliders are at the top. My rudders are the only ones I still scale and even those the "0" slider is 2/3 the way up slopping to the top from there.

Only you know how hard you yank on the stick, so only you can adjust it. Starting with someone else setup, like Ghosth's here can help when trying to understand what your trying to do.

Good luck, and welcome to AH !

maybe increasing spring pressure might help, good article using spacer's on spring in hardware on search.  :old:

Falcon learn to under control not over control!

Imagine that the joystick is attached to an absolutely awesome hot nekkid babe.

But, if you jerk that thing, she's going to get scared, jump up and run away screaming rape.

The key is smooth, controlled, smooth input.  Be strong enough to be gentle.
Just as much as you need, never more, never jerked. Always smooth and gentle.

Do that with the scaling posted above and you'll be on your way.

Somehow, somewhere, I learned a long time ago that if I put it that way, that guys seemed to "get" the message.
Been using it ever since, and it seems to help.

Fun sometimes to see the astonished looks I get.

OK,I get it,I get it..I will try it with the scaling posted above instead of straight across the top..is that for x and y axis??

Roll you can leave fairly aggressive, screen shot is one potential for pitch.

Rudder you can do either default stair step or a modified across the top.
Set the first 3 sliders to roughly 25%, 50%, and 75% rest at the top.

That will give you some finer control near the center. Make it easier to line up shots with rudder.
