Collishaw's Camel
« on: May 19, 2010, 09:18:59 AM »
This is the Sopwith Camel of Captain Raymond Colllishaw. Collishaw became famous leading the Black Flight of 10 RNAS. This all Canadian flight racked up 87 kills in two months flying all black painted Sopwith Triplanes. Each aircraft was named differently, Black Knight, Black Prince, Black Sheep, Black Death and in Collishaw's case, Black Maria. He was later transferred to lead 13 RNAS and then 3 RNAS. By the end of the war he had been credited with 60 kills including the German 30 kill ace Lt. Karl Allmenroder.

The aircraft I've skinned is Collishaw's Camel from 13 RNAS in which he scored one kill. This had the nose, tail and wheels painted black and the name "Black Maria" painted on each side, with big "C"s painted in four positions.
