Screen Ratio
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:20:50 AM »
Not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes.

What is the ratio of degrees field of view (horizontal and vertical)  and is it affected by the display value?

For example:  Suppose I'm running 1680x1050 resolution and forcing 105 degrees field of view.  How many degrees VERTICAL do I have?  Is it a ratio that can be calculated based on screen resolution or is it 'fixed' because of the 105 degree field of view.  Would the vertical field of view be different if I switched to 1024x768?

The vertical field of view will depend on your aspect ratio and horizontal field of view.  If your aspect ratio is 4:3 and your FOV is 120 then your vertical FOV is 90. Resolution doesn't enter into it.
