Doollitle option
« on: May 26, 2010, 07:09:06 PM »
here we go with the noob idea, and the flame war, and the unnecessary PM's...and please chop off my arm for putting my finger in the fan if Ive brought up a dead topic, i insist.

yes i know, the Doolittle  Raid was executed with B25B's... that we don't have. no I'm not asking for a new plane, that would just be a whole nother flame war its self, what i am asking for though is that in some maps or some condition (i don't know I'm not a tech guy) that the B25C(i know its not the B, its the closest we have though) be available on the carriers with the loadout of... 2000lb. of bombs total, and I'm not sure on the fuel, sorry.

and yes i know this would be a noob fest but they would most likely get shot down (not sayin I'm hot stuff, I'm average) but those who know what to do would get it done, that's my reasoning about it... let the flame war begin...

Most likely on new maps when the B25 was first introduced and the map's enabled planes weren't updated.

It was the same bug that allowed the P-39 to take off from CVs on certain maps.

For a Doolittle Raid scenario I see no problem with it as it's a scenario to re-enact the event.  However, in a MA setting, an emphatic "No".  The Doolittle Raid was a one off mission with specially modified B-25Bs and this was the only time the Mitchell was ever flown off an aircraft carrier.

Well when they made Pearl Harbor they launched B25's off a CVN, so technically they launched off a boat twice.  :D

And -1 to the idea. Like AK-AK said it was a special mission and B25's should not be enabled on CVs.

If you're referring to that great action packed movie starring the greatest actor of all time, Ben Affleck, it was CGI.

If you watch the behind the scenes of how they made the movie you'll see that they actually loaded several B25's on board the USS Constellation. I remember this pretty well because they only had 3 hours to get their launch shots in and it was storming most of the time, but they found some clear weather and launched them.

Nice Vid Kermit :)

Thank you!  Remember, it was a group effort to make this film, as those actors had many ideas that were put into the film, as well as put in hours to act out the many scenes.

would that happen to be a thndrEGG mission? :lol

my personal favorite was 30+ B5N's hittin a port. we actually did some moderate damage, but about half of us got shot down by one pony  :rofl

whats even funnier is that one of us actually killed that pony with the peashooter gun in the rear :rofl
having fun and getting killed since tour 110
