Considering a new video card
« on: May 26, 2010, 11:26:53 PM »
I currently have a 9800GTX+ with 750watt Corsair P/S (Supposedly Seasonic internals)

Thinking of going ATI... which is better?  5770 or 5830?  What about the 5750.. is that any better than my 9800GTX+?

I don't really feel like shelling out the kind of dough for 5850 or higher... although it would be nice to have, I don't much have a need for that expensive a card.

What do you guys think?

5770 is a good card and runs the game well.

Thanks for that link!  I've seen it before but I couldn't find it for the life of me.

It appears that the 5830 performs quite a bit better than I was thinking.

Based on that chart, here's what I see.  Compared to my GF9800GTX+...

5750 = ~30% Increase in performance
5770 = ~50% Increase in performance
5830 = ~90% Increase in performance
5850 = ~105% Increase in performance
5870 = ~150% Increase in performance

And then you have the Fermis...

I may end up going with the 5830.  I know the 5770 is a solid performer, but it appears there is quite a performance jump there, and the price difference isn't that extreme.

Thanks guys!  If anyone here has the 5830, I'd love to hear from you!
