FSO Recon Flights: Rules Clarification Please
« on: May 30, 2010, 11:54:07 PM »
I'm heading this off now, because I can bet that this very issue will arrive after the first frame is over, so could FSO admin please clarify? ...

Are these recon aircraft able to all take film of the same exact field and earn points all the same?  I hope not, but please verify. My suggestion would be to have all of the fields be filmed before a second film on a single field is worth any points.  Otherwise, the Axis can simply send in the Ar234's to one field, film, and earn major points simply for showing up.  Same goes for the Spit 14's albeit a bit more of a challenge to film and evade.

Thanks!   :)

EDIT: I've also thought of this scenario: do aircraft get credit for filming more than one base?  If so, if I were the Axis CiC I'd have all 12 of those Ar234's film all 3 of those Allied bases on the European mainland.  See the predicament?   :)

Appreciate the query.

*One recon mission per target*. Max 50 pts for each target filmed. So there is maybe a point in having a backup recon bird?, but 4 Arados all filming the same target and landing will just net 50 pts total. Thats it.

"film all 3 of those Allied bases on the European mainland"

The rules say *strike targets*, meaning just that. Targets listed for the frame. Not just any base you just like the look of. So thats not an issue. No different than bombing a base not listed as a target. You can bomb it, but you wont get any points for doing that.

Warloc,
While you're on, do the recon flights have to be filmed after the target is hit? During? Before?

As per the write up:

"over the center area of the target after the strike is completed but within 60 min of frame start."

...and yes, if for some reason the strikes happen right at T+60 (unlikely) I will be reasonable with the time limit...but I want them done asap within the T+60 rule if at all possible.

Its like this: after the bombers or jabos hit, get in there, and make the run, alt-r film it, rtb, and rearm or tower out (if they are damaged ect). At frame end email me the film. Done. 50 pts for each target MAX. Just one film run needed.

As per the rules, after rtb, they can re up and roll a regular follow up mission if they like, just like any other a/c can in FSO.

The rule needs to be as is because its kind of unfair to have them be able to do a recon run at any time during the frame, as there just isnt enough CAP to possibly cover that kind of time line, and it increases the pucker factor. So having them roll in right after the bombers seems reasonable and fair. I hope there are a few that have fun with it. Its meant to be a challenge, as well as something different.

:salute
