troops?
« on: May 06, 2001, 06:59:00 PM »
I was overhead an enemy base, all acks were down, and all but BH were down. We had m3's inbound. The nits spawned C47's and dumped troops from all possible spawn points. I assume it was their intention to either:

1. Get their troops to maproom first and re-pop their own acks.

2. Get enough of their troops to maproom after we had captured it to re-capture it.

As it was, we strafed all the enemy troops and captured the field anyway. My question is, would either of the two cases cited above have worked, and if so, am I alone in thinking it's a desperatly lame tactic?

Film on request.

Hi Fidd,
 It used to work...

That's the main reason why Acks rebuild immediately. Back in early beta days some fields switched back & forth like a demented metronome because people would spawn C47's just as the attackers dropped the drunks and they would follow each other into the maproom

Why do you have to strafe the maproom to capture a base ?.  I bailed out of a plane over town and took the pilot into the maproom. When the LVT dropped off troops I shot each one with the .45 as they entered the maproom door, but the base capture still happened.  So the question is, does the presence of a friendly pilot in the maproom protect from a capture, or do you have to take an m3 and drop 10 friendly troops into a maproom to keep the base capture from happening ?.

The friendly troops dropped at maproom is an AH myth it doesnt do a thing! A man in the maproom also will not stop a capture unless he shoots a troop! In your case they may have already got some in and you didnt kill enough.
