Hell Hawks ... P47s in WW2
« on: May 23, 2010, 07:25:50 PM »
Hi every1   :)

Just finished reading the book "Hell Hawks! The Untold Story of the American Fliers who SAVAGED HITLER'S WEHRMACHT (caps are mine)"
by Robert F. Dorr & Thomas D. Jones.

The story is about a band of young American pilots and their gritty, close quarters fight against Hitler's vaunted military, & how feared they were by the  Germans.   They shredded the Wehrmacht flying at 200-300 feet above ground & also gave a good account of themselves in air combat.

They flew the rugged, heavily armed P-47 Thunderbolt .. affectionately
known as the "Jug".  Spell bound reading, well detailed with interviews
of the pilots themselves.

This book may be obtained from your local library .... Enjoy!
