Proximity kills on vehicles
« on: June 05, 2010, 12:11:22 AM »
I was checking the stats tonight to see if I recognized any of the names I was playing against, and something really odd popped out at me.  I am credited with a kill of a Panzer while in a Spit IX, but...  I only flew a total of 2 sorties, I never even saw a Panzer, and I never fired at a ground vehicle of any sort while flying the Spit.

So does anyone know how I could be credited with a kill of Panzer?  Is there such a thing as a proximity kill against vehicles?

You sure?  Even 1 .303 hitting it will give you the credit if he towers.

Yes proximity kills on gv's.  If he towers in "enemy territory", where he would get a "you have been captured" if someone is within 5k of him when he towers, and you are that person closest to him within the aforementioned 5k range you will get credit for the "kill".

Okay.... thanks for the explanation.

Ideally, it would seem as though there might be a better way to address this - but it's certainly pretty far down the list ranked by importance.

I think it is meant as a disincentive to towering out in order to avoid getting killed, like people do n the runway when getting vultched.

In a gv, you die anyway.  Otherwise, someone would spawn in, hear a shot, and camp out before they got hit.  If you happen to be flying over when someone decides to camp out, hooray, bonus for you!!
