Cable modem bliss..sort of...HELP!!!

Can someone give me some tweaking info for cable modems, or maby a link or something, i have it pretty good but...Please kind sir..Id like some more...

Be aware that most hi-speed tweaks are for improving browsing,file download speeds, not necessarily best for online gaming.

i normally get about a 36K download, that pretty good, it is late at night now and while downloading Netscape i maintained 78

you share the pipe with a cable modem. Mine's best at 0500 and worst btwn 1600 and 1900 most weekdays. Depending on how many customers on your node and out of those, how many are online and what they maybe doing, ie browsing vs downloading the latest 80 meg demo, your conn will vary. Still for it's ups and downs, cable is the way to go.

Wobble 36K is not like 56k
36K is 360000, 56k is 56000.
go to dslreports.com, look under tools
and run the test there. i got 3600 down
300up as my best so far. ive been able to
dl a 90 meg file in 6 mins.

Actually if he's testing it in Netscape it displays the transfer rate in KB which is kilobytes (KB).  Mulitply by 8 to get kilobits (kb).

eg. 78 x 8 = 624 kbits/sec (kbps) = .624 Mbps

There are plenty of sites you can use to benchmark easier.
 eg. http://www.speedtest.net

You can probably find one closer to you.

I get 200+k/sec on cable.  Not as fast as Whels but still 1 mbps+ SOMETIMES!!
There are often bottlenecks which are out of your control.
I've had cable for over 3 years and have only found one thing which actually helped my throughput.  Go to http://www.dslreports.com  and get the registry tweak which increases your RWIN value.  (use at own risk+)
This tweak will do not a thing for your gaming however; just allow you to get yer porn fix quicker
