Interesting little exchange...
« on: June 26, 2010, 10:47:08 PM »
happened last night. Wanted to throw it out there for comment. We had the typical little 2,3,4 on 2,3,4 going. At that moment it was 3 red 1 green and me inbound. The friendly had the con he was with reasonably well in hand (from my view in that he had E and apparently alt). I flew on by to engage the trailer and about 2 minutes later I've got tracers screaming over my wing. I break to find its the friendly...with the original bogey in trail...so now I do have tracers over my shoulder for real....then the 3rd bogey hits and neither of us can get any true talley. He goes in and after a few minutes so do I. I try and comment to him that in here you don't want to "help" if you know your facing other cons coming in. Not to mention that the guy your helping needs a heads up...especially if your bringing another guest to dinner.

It's darn near impossible to pick up the second guy in and #3 is worse. He got his feathers ruffled and left which wasn't my intent. To me basic communication and tactics is essential both due to the no icons and the tendency to get guys who aren't afraid to mix it up if they sense you don't have a clear tally on them...

Fun fights again :aok

LOL...sounds like somebody still had his MA goggles on. I wouldn't be surprised if the person didn't have a working mic either.

Tonight in the MA I dove in to help a green guy that was fighting two reds, talking to him the whole time, no response from him at all.  Once I got them split apart, one on him and one to myself, I worked my way to the 6 of my guy, only to see tracers coming at me.  I looked back and the friendly is 5k away and leaving.  He got a breather when I helped him out, then just took off on me, never said a word or typed to tell me he was leaving.

Stuff like that is just a bit frustrating.  The fights go a lot better with some communication, even if it's to say I need to rtb for whatever reason.  I'd have been able to fight both guys if I'd have just known that was his plan.  I had e on them, but I gave a lot of it up to split the more dangerous one off of him.  Ah well, fighting is still fun!

I've learned that in the AVA, communication is essential. This especially holds true in the no-icons environment (which I'm all for btw :D).  As most of us know it all boils down to communication.  A few nights ago I flew with Wagger for the first time.  It was a real blast for me as I had never flown with him.  We winged up and headed out.  On our ingress we noticed the odds were not in our favor.  After making initial contact and constantly having to scan for additional threats joining the fight we ended up in the weeds after starting with a healthy altitude.  Being low and slow made me rely on his information even more as cons with altitude and speed tore into the fight.  The moral of the story for me was that even though I'm not the greatest stick in the world and my ACM is still lacking at times, I was able to safely rtb in large part because of timely communication.  Wagger i'll wing with you anytime  :salute

Bacon8tr thanks for the compliment.  Usually my squadies are the recipients of my help.  Of course with my timing and shooting skills its usually oooooops my bad.  I enjoyed flying with you and the feeling is the same on my part. Salute.

bacon8tr you are absolutely right.  The other night, a TheBug, Wagger and I were in in a 3 v. 5---we had to communicate to be successful--which we were.  The trick of course is not quantity but quality.

ill  tell ya another how about bein in a 2v2 and the friendly keeps abandoning his guy to pick mine whithout ever telling me HIS bogey in now on my 6. Even after i break off my bogey to avoid getting shot by his, i reverse his bogey only to find that the friendly has onece again abandon the bogey he is shooting at to attempt at picking mine all while allowin the other bogey to again jump on my 6
