Object shadowing and self shadowing
« on: July 15, 2010, 09:41:56 AM »
Yep, another eyecandy wish.

I wish that objects and items other than planes and GVs had self shadowing. Especially with the new terrain objects, it's really obvious that they are not casting shadows, not on themselves or the ground. I think it'd be a little touch that'd make a huge difference. A CURRENT item example is the Carrier... It's so obvious the "shadow" of the carrier's decks on itself are painted on, and it just looks... well.. not so good when the sun is in the wrong direction for that shadow. It'd be great as another one of those details that those of us with the horsepower to do it could see it, and those who do not, do not really lose out on anything (i.e. doesn't really affect gameplay).

ALSO, is there any way to have the "self shadows" on the objects, as well as "other aircraft" adjustable separately from your own aircraft? I really want my own self shadow to always be better looking than the object that's 5k away.

I see my airplane when I'm flying low to the ground and tank shadows most of the time, and I have shadows turned off.

+1, I have a feeling HTC is already working towards this as it's a logical step to take development wise.

Yep gyrene. I'm referring to self shadowing and shadows from things like the radar tower, bunkers, hangars, Carriers and Destroyers, etc.  :salute
