If we are in a Co-e situation, and he is 400 off my tail, how do you propose I slow down rapidly with out taking a poorly aimed hail of 20mm's to mmy airframe?

Hartmann maneuver might work if hes never seen it, then you could just pop up and let him ram into the back of you  :devil

edit: I was thinking of the jug as lead plane because the same happened to me last night, only thought of it after I was down :(

Adjust head position. It helps greatly. Still not the best by any means. F4U is one of the best planes in the game IMHO.
Landing is overrated.

I've noticed that when things go bad for me, it's when I'm in an F4U.  Practically every single time.  There isn't any other plane in AH that I get into trouble with nearly as often.

You have to learn the F4U pretty well. Once you learn it, it is very deadly.
Landing is overrated.

It is best at about 200-300 mph and at these speeds with flaps extended, it is deadly. It is a great BnZ plane but can also turn with a spit for a while if it must. (until your speed drops too low)
Landing is overrated.

Practice with the older F4Us and then try the F4U-4, F4U-4 is a great plane, one of my favorites.
Landing is overrated.

all spitfires, most of the 109's (all but the F-4, and G-2), 190F8 (I always bump into an La-7, P-51, or something that totally owns me), P-39, Ta-152, Zeek, Ki-61, P-38's, etc.

About the only planes I have any success in is:

P-51B/D
P-40E
P-47M/D11
190A5
109F-4
109G-2
Yak-9U
FM-2

And occationally the 110 (fought 2 F4U's and a spit VIII to a draw, which is the high water mark of my carrear)
