START
SETTINGS
CONTROL PANEL
SYSTEM
HARDWARE tab
DEVICE MANAGER
click plus sign next to COMPUTER
double ACPI (or whatever it is)
click DRIVER tab
click UPDATE DRIVER
when the Wizard asks do a DISPLAY A LIST OF THE KNOWN DRIVERS..etc
click SHOW ALL HARDWARE OF THIS DEVICE CLASS
then select 'standard computers' in the left
then 'standard pc' in the right.
click next

you will have to reboot and install a few drivers, but thats about it.

IRQs and W2K......??
« Reply #18 on: October 23, 2001, 10:46:00 AM »
thanks wobble....went smooth, no probs.

i now have most everything on a different IRQ (the NIC, scsi, and USB all shared 15), but everything else is on it's own.

didn't notice any improvement in FPS yet. would there be anything else other than drivers issues and IRQs that would cuase a slow down in FPS? When i had the same hardware running in win98 i was able to use AGP4X with the via chipset (i found some reg hack that enabled it and let it be stable.) However, with win2K ( i know i know ) i am unable to get the 4X to work without lockups.

might just put up with it till i get a new MB and CPU.
