I thought it was z-buffer?

Disabling V-Sync causes rubber-bullets, bad gunnery, missed bombs and nervous breakdown

Wobble, disabling V-sync is a bad thing for AH.  Disabling V-Sync just gets you lost frame display information, especially if your monitor is slow and your CPU is fast.  IN AH, this leads to jumpy planes, rubber bullets, jerky motions and a plethora of other video related anomalies.

And the comment about "all video cards do that", is simply untrue.

The ATI Radeon does not do this.  I have not extensively tested the GeForce cards in AH, yet, but I am working on it.

A few things about GeForce cards, and this only applies to NVidia 6.50 drivers, as that is all I have worked with, so far.
In the D3D setup, you must set the mipmapping level to "High quality display" or something close to that.  By default it is set to "Best image".  This will all but remove vertical tearing from the display.
There is not control for enabling or disabling V-sync with the NVidia drivers, and by default V-sync is disabled.  So you should use .....nvram??  I have not tested this utility, but it supposedly will allow you to enable V-sync for GeForce cards.
Doing the above will give you nice fluid motion and accurate plane placement information.
Of course, maximum frame rates will then be dictated by the vertical refresh rate of your monitor.

For VooDoo cards, I do not have any tweaking help, as I will not be benchmarking and testing these cards.

Hope this helps.
