Flying....
« on: June 30, 2010, 01:33:14 PM »
How do you fly these planes??? I've just started and keep on flying into buildings? I've managed to get onto the runway but the plane starts to turn as I press the power up on the engine and I drive into one of the many buildings on the the aerodrome??  :airplane: :headscratch: this is nothing like H.A.W.X

Might I respectfully suggest that you troll the main board, rather than the help and training forum?

Edit -> Or explain why someone with what might be taken as trainer wings (and years of experience) in their sig is pretending to not be able to take off?

836 posts and can't take off :huh

Anyways, it's not too hard to get your plane in the air.

To get started, it would be advisable to click on the options tag which is on the clipboard.
Then click preferences and then flight.  Check the "Auto take off" box.
Go back to the hanger, from where you can select a plane.
Once selected all you have to do is click on an available runway direction.
You will find yourself in your selected plane with the engine starting up.
Now simply throttle up and up up up you go.

If you don't have a joystick to control your flight I would suggest getting one.  The game is much easier to play with one.  Although there are some who manage to fly and fight really well with a mouse.

best of luck...

Maybe you should start a "how to troll" thread. That is where training would help you the greatest.  :devil

TY Stones for your input, but I'm afraid Pervert was just joking. He has bailed out too many times while inverted, on the deck causing his brain to not function properly.  :joystick:

First off, you have to make sure you have your cockpit air-conditioning set to medium fan. Some planes in AH have serious battery issues and will not generate take off power whilst A/C is on full.

Second you need to taxi over to the barracks where you will be assigned a registration number for you aircraft. As a new player you will not be enabled to load any fuel in your main tanks untill properly identifyable with your reg. number painted down the sides.

Thirdly make sure you have set your oven to low heat in preperation for flying. Combat sorties will often last hours and a pre-heated oven is essential for a smooth flight. Make sure the kettle is close at hand with at least 1 half pint of milk on standby.

Fourthly it is also essential to take the chocks out from under the wheels. The keyboard command to do this can be mapped in the options menu under Options/Controls/Key Mapping/Chocks Away.

Lastly make sure to print out and memorise the entire pre-flight check procedure. Stick a copy next to your monitor. Knowing it off by heart will reduce the normal 15 mins pre-flight to around 5 minutes when you have mapped all the buttons. Don't forget to again customise the pre-flight check keys in Options/Controls/Key Map/Pre-Flight. It takes some practice but soon you will be able to type out the checks without even looking at the keyboard.

You will NOT be able to take off correctly before you complete this list. Welcome to AcesHigh!

And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Nope, just a normal educated person. But if you would like to lose in a battle of wits over the internet, go right on ahead.  :P
