Additional option in hanger for the Spitfire Mk IX
« on: July 02, 2010, 12:48:37 PM »
Got to thinking last night while flying CAP over our GVs defending one of our bases when I thought occured to me.  The Spitfire Mk IX should have an additional ordnance option in the hanger to select large beer barrels as an option for supplies.

The sight of a Spitfire Mk IX bringing in the daily supply of beer will instantly raise the moral of even the most broken spirited man.  A good fighting moral and spirit is just as important as a supply of ammo and a soldier with high moral and fighting spirit can take on and vanquish any foe.

Think about it, you and your squadron are flying NOE at 50ft, buzzing over tree tops and scaring the sheep, successfully sneak the base and now want to celebrate your good fortune.  Previously, this wouldn't have been possible because the beer had to be stored in the Goons with the drunks and by the time you guys reached the target, the drunks would have drank it all and hence, earn their name "drunks".  Now, you would be able to designate a Spitfire Mk IX or two to carry these large beer barrels with you on the attack so by the time you taxi up to your reventment on your newly captured base, you'd have a nice mug of beer waiting for you.  Your moral immediately sky rockets and you're ready for that next NOE attack.

Or when you're spawn camping (sitting in a tank all day can be a very tedious, boring and thirsty work) and you're hot and tired and your moral is dropping like a stone in water.  Just when you're about to give up any hope, you hear the most wonderful sound in the world...the roar of the a Merlin as the Spitfire Mk IX flies low over your tank, wags its wings and drops two large barrels of beer for you and your spawn camping mates.  Moral instantly sky rockets and you're ready for another 8 hour spawn camping tour.

Think about it.

I can not image that major drag and serious effects on turning that would have on the spit.

So would they be supplies? I don't think HTC would waste time modeling that so you can drop beer kegs on me with no effect.

You're not old enough to cross the street by yourself, let alone drink beer.

Right after D-Day in the summer of 44, quite a lot actually.  They used DTs as well.

Land the aircraft at an airfield.

Hmmmm... I was unaware that 15yr olds were unable to cross streets. Would you mind stopping by my home town, as many seem to be ignorant of this law  :rofl.

Thought you would point out our Mk IX wing type didn't have hard points.
Although you could put them on a XVI ;-)
