Was wondering if there's something going on with the ack settings. I know the strength is usually greatly reduced from the regular arena settings in FSO. In the past I can't remember being killed or even seriously damaged by ack when on an attack mission although surely I've been damaged by multiple hits. The last two times I've been on a field attack mission I've been seriously damaged by the ack--and quickly. Last month's event I was in a FW and recieved a one ping death. No damage--totally destroyed and in the tower. This past week it was a pilot wound before I could get my eggs out. I did live long enough to get ords out and even ping up a 109 but died quickly.

Don't know if the settings have changed or if it's something that's just relative the last few versions of AH but it just seems to me this hasn't happened before. FWIW in the regular arenas I can count on a pilot wound happening to me more the last couple of months than I ever remember. It's become rather annoying.

Might just be bad luck Drano usually its 0.33-0.5 of MA. Its certainly almost always a reduced factor. It was 0.5 in Junes setup and this current one has it at 0.4 looks like.

Right and I was pretty sure they were the settings and I'm pretty sure they've always been about that in FSO which is why I wondered if it was a more global thing relative the last few updates to the game. I'm tellin ya I've been pilot wounded more lately than I can remember. It's like dang near every flight first hit I take it's brains on the windscreen!

Stop playing in the ACK, that might help.   JK.

That is too bad that to run into some bad luck with the ack, especially one kill shot.  Only one time did i get a PW and engine oil at the same time in a one pass through the field ack.

That's just it--I wasn't playing. I was coming through with my hair on fire. If I was hangin around in the sparky stuff for a while I could see but both of these times I was at a high rate of speed blowing through the base on my first pass.

Must have been a luck aa shot drano. That was a v-base and only 2 Auto acks were up. I was one of the spit-v's bh ya. You guys did all you could to make it to target.  :salute
Don't feel bad, my whole squad was shot down by yours.  You did your job, and we did ours.
Ps. If anyone of your remaining 88's (or 109's) would have come back, they would have met no opposition. We were all dead. Plus no-one was able to cover our v-base..   :old:

Sorry about that Drano. Ack was at .4. Luck of the draw I guess. Over the years I have had times (2 or 3 weeks) that it would seem I had a big fat target painted on my plane and the ack would get me every time. Probably happens to all long time players sooner or later. Did not change anything about the ack other than to lower its lethality to .4 sir.
