Designer Notes

*CVL Shoho provided air protection for the IJN Port Morseby invasion TF. No other naval units on either side was able to conduct amphibious operations. To recreate this C52 will be the only TF with LVTs.

** The 35th and 36th Fighter squadrons Operated a mix of P-39Ds and P-400s Pilots wishing to simulate the P-400 should arm with the 37mm gun package. Pilots wishing to simulate the P-39D should arm with the 20mm gun package.

*** The 35th and 36th Fighter squadrons were sent to Port Moresby to relieve RAAF 75 Sqn which only had three operational Kittyhawks during this battle. To simulate the rarity of P-40E operations for this week in time they available only a P13 and it will take some effort to get them airborne from there.

**** The TBM being limited to torpedo's only is to better reflect the limitations of the TBD Devastator.

Jaeger if you would reverse the info under ** on the P-400 and P-39D gun packages. I typed them backwards. It should read 20mm for P-400 and 37mm for P-39D. Thanks.

Sorry bout that Cactus. I was in a rush to get this out and got heavy fingered on the keyboard. A couple of typos are haunting the write up.

Temporary inconvenience, permanent improvement
« Reply #10 on: July 09, 2010, 11:14:47 PM »
We've had an issue with the Coral Sea map.  The issue occurred quite late at night.  The temporary fix is that all of the planes listed in Shifty's and Jaeger's setup are enabled at all carrier and air bases, but on the Slot map.  We'll adjust this to more accurately reflect the actual battle very soon.  Very soon.  In the meantime, enjoy, this has some very fun plane matches.

A fun  Saturday,

Logged online to find quite a few guys,  20+   up to 30.    Led a raid on 1  V base to close/capture,    brought CVs  for a blockage from enemy field to protect friendly field (and possible close enemy airfield).    Then led  another raid to another V base,  and responded to  enemy cv threats  by sinking their boats.

3 LCA pilots and other allied fighters <S>

Way to go.
To fly or not to fly, that is the question
