momentary opaque text buffer button
« on: July 08, 2010, 01:36:34 AM »
I turn the transparency settings all the way up in order to see the instrument panel more clearly.

It would be nice to have a momentary button to turn the text buffer opaque.

along with this, I wish a minimizing button for the chat buffer to make it a 10 x 10 pixels little baby.

OK.  Fine.  You asked for it.

Make your text buffer only opaque enough so you can read it yet can still see through it.

Put it out of the way where it is not a distraction.  Mine is in the lower left corner of the screen.  I know you wanted to know that.

Seeing the instrument panel more clearly?

Do you have a "look down" button mapped that you can use in conjunction with hat views like a "look up" button?  Example: "Up button + Right Hat = Look Up/Right.

A "look down" button + some zoom + a "look forward" hat = Look Down at the instruments.  Talk about seeing clearly.

and a function to enable "auto hide mouse pointer" after some seconds of inactivity/no movement

You can move your mouse to where you can't even find it half the time right now.

Too much trouble?

Want someone to cut your meat for you?

sorry, I forgot I can move the mouse with my 3rd hand while in a dogfight.

you cant find a negative critic on the minimize button for the clipboard, can you?

I can cut a pizza in 6 slices, but, would you pick up my soap instead?

Elbow.

Actually, you could put the mouse pointer in some inconspicuous, benign spot before you take your hand off the mouse.

May I ask which part of the instrument panel you cant see and why its important?  Are you zoomed in?  or in normal view?  Which airplane? Reason I am asking is because i can see all the important readings (speed, cannon rounds left, I dont use mg) with no problem.  The rest I already know based on how I move the controls.  Not trying to be funny, but maybe there's something I overlook that I should be paying attention too.

From plane to plane it's different.  Usually I set my forward view (my numeric 8 key) to a position where I'm low in the cockpit and forward as close as I can get to the instruments and still see all of them.   In some models the dials are hard to read even with the transparency all the way up.  Seems like the ones I have the most trouble with are the German models, like the 190s.

But, even when I'm looking up with nothing but a clear blue sky.  It would be nice to turn the text buffer opaque to make it easier to read, but only momentarily, otherwise I'll miss a con sneaking up on me in the blind spot.
