Changing to Windows 7

Anyone running Aces on Windows 7 ? If so, any issues switching from Vista to Windows 7 ?

W7-64 runs AH great. Definitely go for it.

Tomcat, from Vista I'd personally do a fresh reformat for sure...I've heard a few horror stories from the 'upgrade path'.

I've heard horror stories from ANY of Microsoft's 'upgrade paths'.  Theoretically it may work well on a completely healthy system, but how many people actually have a 'completely healthy system?'  If there are any problems whatsoever, there's a very good chance it will just get amplified during the upgrade process...

If you're talking "upgrade" from Vista to Win7 but if you're going to wipe the drive and start over go for it. Win7 64bit runs smooth. Aside from navigating within the OS, I'm liking it better than XP, 2000 or Vista.

If you want to see task manager, ctrl+alt+del still works or you can right click on your taskbar and choose "start task manager".

Anything is better than Vista.  A poke in the eye with a sharp stick is better than Vista.  When you have the worst operating system Microsoft has ever shipped, you have no place to go but up.

Ermmm...wasn't the title for "the worst operating system ever" given to Windows ME?

Made PC Mag top 5 worst products of all time list.
Never had a service pack.
Only shipped out for a year.

Vista at least shipped for 2 years and got a service pack or two. As if that's any saving grace.

For shame Skuzzy. You forgot ME.

At least Vista works with a few tweaks. ME never worked no matter what you did to it. =)

ME and Vista both vie for the bottom dwelling list of 'worst' of all time.  I put Vista on the bottom as Microsoft had no excuse for pulling another ME out of their hat.

You know what.. back when ME was out... it wasn't the OS so much as being the problem... it was the drivers.

ME was kind of, but not quite, compatible with WIN98 drivers.  Because of this, few hardware manufacturers bothered to develop ME drivers which forced people to use 98 drivers.  THIS is where the problems started.

ME was supposed to be Microsoft's 'home' users' upgrade to 98, just like Win2k was supposed to be their 'commercial' users' upgrade to NT.  Hardware manufacturers already knew the Win2k was VASTLY superior to ME on almost all accounts, and when Microsoft finally caught on, they opted to 'file away' ME and focus on a 'home' version of W2K... which became WINXP Home.

Yes, MS introduced some new features into ME such as recovery and backup utilities.. and I suppose this may be useful to some... but I've always turned those features off as they are more intrusive than they are worth.  The few times I've used windows restore on others computers resulted in less than anticipated results.  But still, I firmly believe that the issues with ME wasn't the OS itself.. it was lack of hardware support.

Because of this, I vote Vista for WORST MS O/S OF ALL TIME.
