Yellowfin go up to 400+ pounds...
The cousin of the Yellowfin, otherwise known as the Bluefin, can get muy grande :aok
Imagine hooking into a 1000lb fish  :x :x :x

Yea we hauled in a 267lb yellowfin last year, paid for the trip, the gas to get there and we each walked away with $350.00(appx)

I would love to hook into a large bluefin, they get crazy in the prices that are paid for them, I read not to long ago that a bluefin (not sure of the weight) sold for $100K.

Im more of a freshwater man myself, and have been meaning to tell a story of when i was a kid, just been crazy busy at work. When i get a chance ill get back in and tell it.

Walleye around here ( eastern Pa Lake Nockamixon) Love leeches. I catch more on leeches than most other live baits. When using artificial lures, we troll with 7" broken back Rapalas ( usually multicolor chartruese (sp?) ) and we hammer them, if we do hook up trolling its usually better size fish, multiple 24 26 28 inchers are not uncommon. We find them in about 16 to 20ft of water where there are natural breaks and drop offs, and or around points.Plus the occasional Hybrid Striper, large Channel cats, and Muskies.

I have a little experience with Raystown Lake.  I've lived in Huntingdon all my life, fished the "Lake" since about 1972 (before it was a lake).  It's extremely hard to fish sucessfully but it can be done.  This time of year most of the bass are going to be along the Terrace Mountain side of the lake where they can get in the shade of the steep sides or submerged at about 30 feet in the weed beds.  In the Snyders Run area (H1/H2) I usually fish the coves coming out of the launch, directly across the no wake bouys in the open cove (Peachys Orchard area), and an area out where the main lake is (just off to your left as you're coming into the main lake area, cliffs to your left, is a point with a small detached island off of it.  Between the island and point, and all around that area, is a large area of deep water with tall weed beds.  Jigs or plastic worms along the bottom here usually produces something).  Best sucess with jigs seems to be dark green/black, Texas rigged grape plastic worms work best for me.

In the last few years I've caught 4 bass over 17" out there but all of them were in the Entriken area.  We fish (as a family) at Tatman Run during the summer.  Kids can swim, wife and I fish.  We catch a lot of nice size catfish there on nightcrawlers and I've caught my big bass on silver spoons or DareDevils.  This was the last big one caught Sept '09.  Most of the hits are in the late evening, just before dark when the bass come in closer to shore to feed on the shad (hence why the silver spoons work so well).

The Aitch area is loaded with crappie if you're into that.  Just launch at the boat ramp and head left on your way out.  Huge weed bed over there just loaded with them (I've had sucess both with white and black jigs) or fish off the fishing pier with red worms in the weed beds to the right.

But my most favorite fishing in this area is the rivers :)  I've walked/waded all of the Raystown Branch, and all of the Juniata River from the Huntingdon/Smithfield area down past Mount Union.  Get out there in the thigh high, cool water with a 1/4 oz. KastMaster lure (usually silver or gold during the summer) or a Thompson Torpedo in the fall and boy can you have some fun!  Last Saturday I went out to the Raystown branch just below the dam and did some wading.  In the water at 1330, back at my truch at 1830.  Walked about 1/2 mile down river and hooked 30 fish!  10 Rock Bass, 8 Small mouth (including a 14" I brought home), 8 sunfish, 1 fallfish, and 3 fish that I fought with but didn't get to land (2 I saw were SMB).

Get here in late April / Early May and they stock trout just below the dam.  The longest it took to get my 5 fish limit this spring was 3 hours.  We should hook up and I'll take you for some fun :)

Excellent catch. I'm sorry to say in all my years of fishing. I've never brought in more than 11 keeper crappie in one trip.  :(

I know how to fish em though. Most of them I catch are 8" which is just below the limit. I usually catch 50 of them in one trip but only keep about 1/5 of the buggers :lol

Also, I was thinking about posting instructional videos to youtube. Like how to tie certain knots. Would here be interested if I did that?

I had a year like that a couple of years ago Walleye fishing, the PA state size limit was 16". Every darn one i caught was 15 1/2 or 15 3/4. :rofl  I couldnt catch a keeper to save my life!!

I actually found a great spot to fish this lake from the shore. Picture this, its a 7mi long by a mile long man made lake, the Army Corp of engineers dammed up a creek to make the lake ( there is actually a town under the lake, and i can see the church steeple on my Humminbird). The dam flows down into a lower pool, then goes over a spillway where the pipe is located to drain the lake into the creek. You can fish facing the spillway wall, this area is about 100yrds long and 35 ft wide off the wall. Its absolutly amazing what is caught there, I had a day were i caught 2 27" walleye, a Hybrid Striper (about 10lbs) a channel cat that went 15+ pounds and a muskie that went 22". Its the darndest thing, all i can figure is that the dam is at the deepest part of the lake, when the upper dam releases into the  lower pool the fish get caught there, then they open the spillway and they go down into this little spot. I saw a guy take a 40" muskie off this little area. I was never one to prefer shore fishing over fishing from my boat, but i find myself fishing this spot more and more lately. If anyone is ever in the South Eastern part of PA, let me know, ill take ya there. Fishing this spot is best March thru mid June. By July its too warm as the area isnt that deep (12ft maybe) and the dam releases become fewer and fewer

I don't know how to fish for Walleye. I have read probably everything there is on it, watched hundreds of youtube videos. I just haven't gone out there yet. Any advice on fishing for Walleye would be appreciated. Cobia is trying to help but I'm chock fulla Q's.

Who wants to know how to make their own Crappie rig for about 1/18th the price of one you find in the store?
 :x
Works very well, too.

I will definitely share the pics I bring back since that is most often all I bring back. The only way I usually keep a fish is if it is some monster trophy fish or I plan on eating it that night. I have eaten several cats and only ever caught one monster large mouth and that one got away when I slipped on a large rock while wading back to the shore. :furious

The fish you should keep if you catch are Crappie and Walleye. I've heard Walleye are excellent for the frying pan and I know Crappie is :x

Largemouths are great too. I've heard Muskie and Pike "steaks" are excellent. Catfish is okay.

Sauger is also excellent, it is pretty much like a Walleye. 'Course then again, you have saugeye.
