Thanks for the link.  Its an interesting read.

Unfortunately, I take reading more excuses than feature descriptions to imply a delay in its release.  That's too bad.  Also, where a 180 page manual might seem cool for a flight sim... it seems over the top for a joy stick setup.

Well... I didn't really have the $$$ right now anyways... I guess it doesn't hurt to wait a bit longer.

Good to know that and since I have already pre-ordered it via Chips and Bits online I am one of the lucky ones with the $250 price instead of $300.

Gimme that website addy where you can pre-order that thing!  I'm tired of this damn MS Sidewinder thingy.  Heck, Im pondering putting the whole damn PC in my BD-5, roll it into the computer room and call it the ultimate cockpit!

Thanks!  I'd like to pre-order that thing too.

I sent back the USB CH Pro Throttle back today and ordered couger last night . I am too old to learn how to use my left hand for the 8 way hat on the throtte and CH don't make a 8 way on their good sticks that I can reach easy .

Found this on the dogfighter forum last night that made up my mind for me >

some HOTAS Cougar specifications to calm you down (or excite you...):
*4* 'true' 8-way 'HATs' on the STICK, *1* 4-way 'HAT' which CAN be set-up to work 8-way via 'LOGICAL PROGRAMMING' (see below) on the THROTTLE, plus *1* 'MICROSTICK' (not 'only') to control the MOUSE (or be used as 8-way 'HAT'), PLUS too many ENHANCED FUNCTIONS to 'tickle' them  to list here (BTW, they are still confidential)...

4 , eight way hats

I just be that one of those is in easy reach

10 minute modification turns bottom hat on Fighterstick into an 8-way hat (they are differnt in size hence no simple swap between the top and the bottom hat). Now they put a smaller size 8 way hat in a throttle - I'll just swap them around :)

gl on that lynx , I tried to make my old CH combat stick bottom left hat a 8 way and it never did work right . I sure did make that hole alot bigger too   :o

While I like my CH pedals , have given up on the rest of their gear . They should have made all those hats on the figherstick 8 ways right off . I mean it costs enough , hell Saitek has all the hats about to be 8 ways , only damn thing about them is they wear out to damn quick for me .

Let me know how it works out for u ok ? I do love hardware , hehe   :D

take care

I heard its delayed a tad bit more. :(

To tide me over, I drove down to SOB's house and played Slim Wittman tunes at full blast until he gave me an F-22 and TQS setup.  The digital chips are on the way.

Yeah... now..... do they have to do it all-over-again to work with WinXP like all the other stick makers that are now 6 - 8 months behind the XP curve ?

Sorry airspro - busy with stuff at the mo. Just finished installation of dual boot Win98SE/XP on my machine, hardware comes next.

I made the fix on hats on both F16 Fighterstick (no side effects) and ForceFX (cannons fired when looking back-left-up :)). I guess it depends on the wiring in the stick itself. I don't need an 8 way hat on the throttle - I'll just move it into the stick (it's the same size as teh bottom hat on teh stick and swap the wiring around) It's gotta work, I'll have to remember that the "bottom" hat is actually "top" for programming purposes :)

Stop by their websight and see for yourself.  Its www.thrustmaster.com.  It looks like they have some XP issues that they are already adressing.

I do know it took about 2 years for Microsoft to introduce a working joystick driver for NT 4.0 (to include throttle and rudders).  So, the fault isn't always on the hardware manufacturer's side of the house.  I firmly believe that "if it isn't broke, you shouldn't fix it".  I'm sure most hardware companies are the same way with reliable drivers/software.  It takes a major kick in the as (Hello new OS) to motivate the change.

When it comes to XP issues I think alot of the companies with hardware/software weren't doing their homework on XP.  I think Microsoft has done alot in regards to their end this time.  Hell I even got my cheap 30 dollar Racing wheel to work with XP so I can have pedals to fly..hehe
