First my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section of the forum.  Now for your viewing pleasure http://www.stclairphoto-imaging.com/360/P51-Mustang/P51_swf.html   Just thought this was pretty sweet.  The zoom and pan controls are on the lower left side of the page.   Enjoy!  :salute

Correct me if Im wrong but The plate (right hand side) says model P51B. But it sure looks like a D to me.

Owned and operated by "The History Channel" perhaps.

I watched an entire segment where they kept calling a P51B a P51D once.

Pretty cool find nonetheless

you can get much much closer, should you visit the orlando area of florida. go to kissimmee gateway airport, and look for stallion 51. they have FOUR 2 seat mustangs. a few years back, they let me climb up on the wing to check out the cockpit.

It's the P51C operated by the St. Paul, MN Wing of the CAF.   Back in the mid 70s when I was a teenager, it was in pieces next to Jack Sandberg's hanger at the Crystal Airport where I took flying lessons.  I snuck into that cockpit and saw that dataplate up close.  Built in Dallas.  I spent many an hour trying to figure out how I could somehow sneak in and steal that 51 back in the day :)

Clearly I never figured out how!

Probably would have been in pieces on the other side of the hangar if ya had :)
