trackir v5 problems
« on: July 17, 2010, 12:48:14 PM »
Is anyone running trackir on an xp if so what mods did you make to get it to run right.
I have upgraded my graphics card and power supply not sure what more I need to do.
Problem is when I merge or when there are a lot of other planes around it freezes up.

                                                                                       thanks, Buzurd.

I have TrackIR 5 w/Track Clip Pro on XP. It was basically PnP. How far away are you from the camera ?
Do you have the correct "tracking target" selected in the upper left hand corner of TIR software for your device?
Is TrackIR sharing a USB port. Example..If you have two USB ports in front of the computer and have two
separate devices plugged into them that would be "sharing" ..the two ports go to one USB connection
on the motherboard..For lack of a better way of explaining it...When it freezes do still have two green lights
on the camera? If you lose the left one, your hat clip or track clip is out of range..Hope this gives you somethings to
work the problem...

I'm using one of the older versions of TrackIr so I don't know if your software allows you to see virtual heads or the actual dots the system is using to determine head position.

EVERY problem I've had with TrackIr has had to do with the sensor not seeing well enough.  Either I was too far away, or I had something else in the sensor's field of view confusing it.  Overhead light, mirror, reflective vest. After checking everything else, I look at what the sensor sees, and viola! There's the problem.  Table light reflecting off a mirror, or some such nonsense.

Hope this helps.

Buzurd, If you can, use some of the USB ports in back of the computer. Sounds like you have to many
devices plugged into one USB connection on the motherboard. Those three USB ports in the front of the computer
I'm sure all plug into one connection on the mobo. That may be where your freezing is.
to many things for one USB connection to do..
