frame rate sucks...
« on: July 21, 2010, 11:36:21 AM »
Somebody please address frame rate issues and possible ways to boost. I often fly with a frame rate less than 10, usually 4-6 in a crowd.

Any comments appreciaed, thanks  :salute

A little info on your comp would give us a place to start.  If it's an off the shelf Best Buy system though, without investing some $ for some new parts, there may not be much that we can do.

Need more information on your computer. Post a dxdiag, top 3 sections.

I think you hit the nail on the head Dragon, so my next step is what, a new vid card?

A DXDIAG will work better than just giving us a few minor details...

More than anything else, that is your problem.  The onboard INTEL graphics is just cra....zy bad.
Set resolution to no higher than 1024X768.  Set textures to no higher than 256 (128 may be necessary).  Turn off all advanced graphics options (they're probably unchecked anyway).  Turn off skins... and after all of that you MIGHT see 25fps once in awhile.

I have a feeling your power supply won't handle a video card, but without some specifications (or maybe at least a model number) there's nothing we can recommend.

First, if you didn't understand, search or ask.

Second, when you run dxdiag on your system, look at the bottom of the first tab and click on "save all information", it will create a text file. When you open the text file all the information needed here is the stuff under "System Information", "Display Devices", and "Sound Devices".

Here is your system specs, amazing what google finds:

Uhmmmm, if that computer only has 1GB of system RAM, you are going to need to add more to it as well.  Vista requires 1GB of RAM just for itself.

Not that bad.

2GB matched memory, take your pick:

That is all the system will carry.

Decent power supply:

Enough video card for that system:

Right around $200 and you're set.
