I have a MOBO capable of AGP 4x operation but when i look in 3dfx tools to set it I only get the 1x and 2x option, what can I do?

V5 only supports AGP 2x.  Don't worry about it, there isn't anything that needs AGP 4x bandwidth anyway.  The difference between AGP 1x and AGP 2x is miniscule, likely not even measurable in AH.

AGP 4x is only important for future upgrade potential.  It's like having space for more system Ram.

Voodoo only supports AGP as better PCI. They never figured out how to do AGP texturing. So it is not an issue.

Not that you'd want to do AGP texturing when you have 64 Megs of onboard video RAM.

Exactly Leph the last thing you wanna actually do is use the AGP bus for moving loadsa textures around this is why we are getting cards with 64mb or more memory so it can all be done onboard the vid card wich is infinitely faster.

About AGP:  http://www4.tomshardware.com/mainboard/00q1/000214/index.html

Leph do you know how V-5 uses its 64MB mem?
hint: 64MB/(2*VS-100)= 32MB/VS-100

Yep, AGP 4x won't make much of a difference in performance.  (On VIA chipset boards it tends to cause random lockups, thus it's not worth the hassle anyway.)

Besides, if you have enough video memory you won't have a need for AGP mode anyway.

Yeah Staga, I do know how it uses it's RAM.  It still kicks ass. <G>

If I had unlimited funds, I'd buy a GeForce 2 Ultra 64 Meg card over the V5... but I don't have that kinda dough.  That and I already have the V5.

Now if nVidia will just take 3DFX's FSAA method and build me a card that will do 4x FSAA at 1024x768 32 bit and 60 fps, I'll be happy. <G>

I'd rather take 1600*1200 and lets say 50fps without FSAA

I wonder what kind of vid-cards do we use in couple years from now...
Maybe 1600*1200 with FSAA, Hardware BumpMapping and T&L

That's what I'm hoping for Staga.    Now if nVidia is smart and implements 3DFX's FSAA scheme, we'll be SET.

Many of us CAN'T use 1600x1200 due to moitor quality and size.  (Not to mention CPU power) So for guys like me, the 1024x768 2x FSAA is the best I can get.

IBM is working on new 200dpi monitors. They're being slated to be released in 2005-2007.

Can't wait to see what type of video we'll have when those come around.
