memory Suggestion on Bh6 MB

Hiya all,

Would memory effect my Ocing BH6 mb?? Any good tools which memeory i am using??  According to Sisoft Sandra it reads this

Bank0/1-DIMM1      DIMM EDRAM 128/64
Bank2/3-DIMM2      DIMM EDRAM 64MB/64
Bank4/5-DIMM3      DIMM EDRAM 64MB/64

Also, could be my TNT 2 ultra (will be getting Geforce2 Pro or Ultra soon)wont let me OC at 124 FSB.  I have PIII 850/100  I did succesfully OC to 112fsb @964 and 124 would OC@1054.   Would memory make different??
Which memeory would you guys recommend from crucial.com it has 100 and 133 with CL3 or CL2 to buy.

Your memory could certainly be hampering your overclocking attempts. It looks like what you have is probably PC100 CL3.

You will need PC133, either CL2 or CL3 to ensure that memory doesn't hold you back. I run a PIII 700 @ 933 (FSB of 133), and I went for PC133 CL2 for maximum speed.

Your TNT2 is unlikely to be a problem, they have a good reputation for successful overclocking of the AGP bus all the way up to 89MHz (ie FSB of 133).

Don't bother with ECC RAM, get the non-parity stuff unless you are extremely worried about system stability. ECC is a little slower, and more expensive.

A fsb of 124 is unlikely to work unless you have the ability to set the PCI bus speed/divider.  Stability will be poor if you get it around 40 MHz.  (Soundcards are usually the first to flake out.)

Usually in the bios there is a way to set the PCI bus divider.  Try to set it as close to 33 Mhz as possible.

I thought I'd also add that PC133 ram is certainly needed.  (CAS 2 7.5 ns or faster would be best.)

hmm how i change PCI bus divider on my bios if you know let me know but if you dont no problem ill try to look into further.

Go to bios and look for an option called 'PCI divider' or something close to that. Once you go significantly above 100MHz on the FSB, you'll want to change it from the current 1/3 to 1/4. Abit are pretty hot on bios options, so there is probably an explicit option.

If there is no such option, the board will be setting the divider automatically, which may or may not be okay depending on its changeover threshold (ie what FSB it switches at).
