I think the Radeon 8500 is a very good card, but this is not how I would go about improving performance...

Yep, I heard about that. That combined with the sub-par OEM cards they shipped made up my mind to go with a new GF3.

well, the sub-par OEM thing was pretty lame.  They should have labeled them from the get go, and not waited a couple of days.  I wonder if people bought the 250 cards for the same price as a 275 card?  I hope not, because it'd take a lot more than an apology to fix that one with me.

The driver issue with Quake III is pathetic.  They claim it's to help the gamers enjoy the game better.  Utter BS.  IF that was the case, it would have been documented and user-controllable.

ATI looks like it's dipping into underhanded tactics.  Glad I have a nvidia based board in my box, and I know when it's time to upgrade, ATI won't even be considered.
