I didnt watch the video but you can get 2 part foam mixtures that you can fill a bulkhead with and even if you sprung a leak the boat would float.

There's plenty of places that you can make a bulkhead of sorts, under seats, the bow or stearn and just box it in,mix the foam and follow the directions.

Also listen to shamus,I cant believe they used that glue!!! a good 2part epoxy/polyester is they way to go and tape the seems.

A friend of mine had a small flat-bottom boat like that.  It was ok for two people in calm conditions.  I wouldn't have trusted it beyond that.  I've done a LOT of wilderness canoeing, and would pick the canoe over that type of boat 8 days out of the week.

Last I heard, he was talking about cutting a hole in the bottom center of the boat, and attaching a live trap under the boat, so he could use it as a live-well.

I think he got the idea when I told him I wanted to cut a hole in the bottom of one of my canoes and put a piece of Plexiglas in place for a glass-bottom boat effect.

I think my idea had a better chance of success.  Then again, I sure wouldn't want to discourage someone from trying out their own ideas...

Great link to the video though.  It's lit the fire under me to get to work a the canvas or cedar strip canoe I've always wanted to build.

Thanks, enjoyed that.
