Somehow torque and the F4U-1C have become one and the same.  Get a clue, they are not.

He pays his $30.

It gets old.

It is a pointless whine.

LOL... the guy flys and dies like all of us.

His plane is as vulnerable as any other blue brick

His cannons are no more or less lethal than any other blue bricks

His blue brick is only one of many.. identical in every way to the one you fly if thats yer bird.

He must maintain SA just like all of us

He's gotta protect his buds or get no help.. just like all of us.

So what's the problem??

He's just better at pulling the tools together and using thim effectivly than most of us. This don't make him public enemy #1.. I'm amazed and impressed.. not pissed and jealous.

Salute; Torque. Keep up the good work.

I find it odd that some of the players constantly asking for more of a challange (no icons,HA, etc.) have never been in sniffing distance of the top 10. I have never read that type of post by torque. I would guess he still finds this to be a challange.

I'm amazed anyone has any issue with torque...he simply has the best SA/snapshot ability I've seen in the game. If you give him an opening he'll hammer your ass...as for piloting ability..i can recall 4-5 times chasing that nikki down...kind of like my dog and porcupines...there are somethings you just don't want to catch . I'd rather have him in the 1-c  .

I have been in the top ten, but I still find that comment condescending and insulting.

For the record, the sentiment expressed has been more of "I have this in mind for what I want to do in AH" than "The MA just doesn't provide any challenge".

Myself, I will split my time all over the place. I don't have to choose one over the other, and I won't.   I don't begrudge you the right to play as you will, nor would I intimate you are good or bad based on your rank. That concept is flawed, as anyone who has followed that topic well knows.

Let's not turn what has been a positive thread negative. No one in the SEA has asked to change a smidgeon of what the MA is (since they get that "fix" in the SEA).

You're assuming yet again that other players care anything about points.  The goal of the game is having fun.  If being in the top ten is fun for you, great.  For others, the fun comes from an ultrarealistic historic environment without icons.

I fail to see where ranking on the scoreboard has anything to do with this.

Easymo, been there done that, was a top-ten monkey in WB's back when the scoring came out, it got boring, obsessive, and I found out that squads are more fun.

BTW, who's Torque?

ALthough all of you know what I think about that turbolaser plane and those "death ray" Hispanos, I must agree. Torque would outstand in any cannon plane. His snapshot ability is incredible, I have tasted it more than once  . And I agree if I go into a F4UC I'd never get the streaks he gets...

I still remember that day, when I was a newbie, I saw him raising a 7-kill streak. when he got the eighth I asked him on private "how do you kill so many planes?". He answered me asking if I wanted to join him. I couldnt do it, I was then in rookland and I didnt want to change sides to Bishland...but I still remember and am grateful for that offer.

Its not the plane, but the man. <S> Torque you are a fighter ace.

(Said that...F4U1-C SUCKS!!!!    )

Easymo,

Every sport Ive ever done that I have tried to maintain a top 10 attitude I have suffered in some other more important part of my life.  Now I run, for fun, I bike for fun, and I play combat sims for fun.

I dont give a squat about top ten in anything except being the best person I can be to my fellowman, and thats a big enough challenge for us all.

Dont get me wrong, I rant and rave when I make a stupid move and go down in flames, and I care about performance, but its not my main focus.

As far as the no icon, historical arena, I think it would be a blast, and I know I'd be sucking hind teet in there too. And maybe just maybe some of the top ten main arena guys would be just plain mediocre pilots in such an arena. I mean if you care that much about standing why make a change to something you might have to readjust too.

Some guys will always be the tops in the same ole, same ole.

OKayyyy. Let me try this another way. There are'nt to many people in the arena that make me set up in my chair. But torque is one of them. I am glad he is there for that reason. Im glad he likes the 1c. As a bonus. He doesnt whine about what the game should be. He optimizes what the game has to offer.

If it gets old, why start this thread?
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I can agree with this to a point, Easymo. Sometimes I think people whine, sometimes they offer constructive suggestions.

Take your request for a combat arena. I think that would be fine, and I would go there too. I didn't think you were whining to suggest it.

Some guys decided they could use the SEA to try out some ideas for an iconless HA. I went there to see what it was like for myself, in order to form an informed opinion. There are problems yet, but it appears to be a step in the right direction. Again, not whining, just people using what is available to make the best of a situation.

There are other ideas that get floated; scenarios, TOD, pylon races... you get the idea. I think they are all good ideas, and only require the right people to drive them to make them work.

But back to the topic- Torque is great and we all know it. His name has been unfairly tied to the F4U-1C topic, and anyone who thinks that plane is the secret to his success simply doesn't know him at all...
