WASHINGTON
While serving under the command of the Far East Air Forces, all participating allied units are awarded the
PHILIPPINE DEFENSE MEDAL, for their actions in the defense of Mindanao Island against the forces of Imperial Japan. Display of the ribbon is authorized for all pilots in their signatures, and the ribbon and medal on their unit websites.

In addition to the above decoration, the
PHILIPPINE PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION is hereby awarded to the following units:
SWAMPDRAGONS
For inflicting maximum damage against the Imperial Japanese Navy, during the defense of Mindanao Island. Display of the ribbon is authorized for all unit pilots in their signatures and on their unit websites.
LCA
For the shooting down of twenty two Japanese aircraft in a single sortie during the defense of Mindanao Island. Display of the ribbon is authorized for all unit pilots in their signatures and on their unit websites.

As well as the above, the following pilots have been awarded the
AIR MEDAL for meritorious action in the skies during the defense of Mindanao Island. Display of the ribbon is authorized for all pilots in their signatures, and the ribbon and medal on their unit websites.
