Why Score is a Joke...

Scores only reflect how well a player can manipulate the game. 

There is no such thing as the best fighter pilot, best bomber pilot, best attack pilot, nor gv player.  Sure, you can have ladders and tourneys to see who wins, but on any given day....

Also, even looking at the AH score this early in the month is very misleading.  The month is still very young and there is a lot of playing left to do.

Lastly, but probably most importantly, do NOT let scoring dictate the amount of fun you have.  That would be a travesty.

Not exactly.  Duel guys like tonyjoey, kazaa, and kappa on 'any given day' and see how often you win.  All of which typically rank very high in fighter...

I am more interested in the opinions on whether or not to just get ridd of rank and keep stats. As stated previously, I argue that the RANK issue is the root cause for the behavior of some pilots in game. Stats should stay, as they provide valuable insight into which areas one should focus their efforts towards for improving.

well, the fact is that htc is a business, and they have to do their best to cater to everyone. those of us that don't care one way or another about score, will not leave due to the fact that there IS a ranking system, whereas those that like to see their names in lights, and like to see their rank in good position.....whelp...they very well may leave if there were no score system.

 we just have to make the best of it as we go.

Well, from what i have learn in the five years as a member of AHII, most people, and that is a vague "most people", do not care much on who has the best rank or what their ranking is at.  Stats, i do believe that a lot do care and as you said,"...they provide valuable insight into which areas one should focus their efforts towards for improving."

I agree with papa about the rank/score system. It usually only encourages people to game the game or like one of my favorite turds that will remain nameless that sits above the fight or above the base in a lets say tempest and picks people as they land or jumps in on every 6v 1 then runs home and has a great score to show from it. They should do away with rank and score completely and just have stats. I do like to keep track of my stats; k/d, kill per sortie or hit % to see how well i can do or in my case not do but rank and score do nothing exept encourage gaming of the game imho.

The guys/girls that are good sticks allways stand out anyways even without a score. Hell who hasn't seen a 109k smacking 4 guys around and you start to sweat knowing its grizz lol. You dont need a score to know who is good just pay attention and you know. Then again if we did this someone wouldn't get there high score trophy at the end of the tour and might cry lol.

Well, technically with picking you need help because you can only "cherry pick" a plane that is fighting another plane.  If you need help bouncing or vulching a bandit, you're doing it wrong.

Discovery was not the purpose of the post, the recommendation is.

You fly 109 K4's and 51's, 2 of the most survivable planes in the game, (admittedly, DARN hard to hit stuff with taters, much less see out of that thing) save maybe the d9. Have no idea HOW you fly...(run with borg cube, hunt for 1 on 1's, etc) The only score that has any merit is how you do in 1 on 1 combat, and that counts much more than running goons or egging undefended towns
