As you can see, you have plenty of payment options.  Open up a checking account (maybe student checking) and get a debit card, that'll work.  But, asking for it free just because you don't want to pay isn't going to fly:aok

the game is already free to download and play offline.  Lots of offline missions for you to pretend in also.

If H2H ever does come back it will be for subscribers only.

I do however think that it would be nice for new players to get a months worth of access to some sort of training arena or somewhere to fly with their guns disabled.  Just to get a feel of the flight model versus human opponents.

I like that. A months free access to the training arena.

But, make em pay for it. Let the Trainers setup required classes that they have to attend over the month. A University. Hitech can put in the mission counter from Tour of Duty to keep track of them. If they don't finish the course work, AUTO outta there.......It's FREE after all... :t..... It's not like they won't have the credit card account option if they dispise school....... :old:

Give the Trainers PERMO eject POWER for the weenies who would create a new account every week to game it. I know I'm only dreaming. It's only taken me 20 years of AW and AH to finaly learn there is a button to raise your gear. I thought you just waited for the loud bang, then you got faster. Landings stopped being fun though..... :headscratch: :headscratch:

I remember when Airwarrior was on AOL they had a pretty decent new player arena.
You were able to fly just like in the MA till you reached a score of something like 1,000 points.
Then you HAD to move into one of the MAs. As once you reached that score number you werent allowed back in the TA or beginner arena or whatever it was called

Wouldnt be a bad idea here for newbs. That initial learning curve wouldnt be so merciless as in the Newbie arena. Most of the people would be within a certain skill level.

Once in the MA they would still be faced with far superior pile-ots. But would at least have some experience under their belts. And not just suddenly thrown to the wolves.

It was 10,000 points and once you reached that milestone you could still fly in the newbie arena but your guns were disabled and you couldn't drop bombs either.  Basically, all you could really do is fly around in a Goon and run supplies or drunks.  You'd get the occasional vet going in the newbie arena and cleaning house but it would only be for a single sortie as it was very easy for a veteran player to amass 10,000+ points in a single sortie.

I agree.  While the training arena we have currently is an excellent venue to seek and receive training, the beauty of the newbie arena in AW is that it also prepared the new player for the dynamics of the main arenas, which is something a new player is completely unprepared for in Aces High.

I think this is the best suggestion to be put on these boards in a long time.   :aok

He, I was thoroughly unprepared for the MA's - didnt do me any harm tho

Like the suggestion for a newbie arena.

Paid subscription for the new 32 man rooms, good plan, h2h back, bad plan.

I remember when I first started Airwarrior I played it single player as a Kid because I had no perceived way to pay for it.  Turned out I was able to get that $15 or so a month and pay.  Been playing ever since in various forms :)  You can make it happen!

For those that stayed it obviously wasnt a deterrence. But I wonder how many come here and get totally overwhelmed with the direct injection into the MA then quickly get discouraged then leave.
