Help needed.
« on: August 12, 2010, 01:30:30 PM »

I do not get free-Track program to work, I get the error message that you see i next line when I try to start the program.

((( The program can not start because d3dx9_33.dll was not found. The problem may fix by installing the program again.)))

I run Windows vista with a 32 bit system.

Not familiar with that software, but the DLL it is looking for is a DirectX 9 DLL.  While DirectX 10, which comes with Vista, has support for DirectX 9, it does not include the DirectX 9 DLL's.

If the software requires that specific DLL, you need to contact whoever makes it and find out if they supply it.

You cannot install DirectX 9 on Vista or WIndows 7.

It would appear that free track hasn't been updated since November 22, 2008 so it's very unlikely you'll get any support from the programmers themselves.

They do have some support forums HERE.  Maybe you'll have better luck with them.

The last time I tried to use freetrack, I was running XP Pro 32bit, and the software crashed on me on a regular basis.. at least once an hour.  This, and the fact that I never could get it to work right when i didn't crash (I blame that on the ancient webcam I was trying to use more than anything) persuaded me to purchases TrackIR - of which I have had almost no problems with.

That's the problem with freeware like that though.  Since it's rarely a profitable venture, it's quite common to have even the best of software packages just become obsolete because no one wants to support them anymore.  After all, people will usually only work so long for free.  Stop giving Skuzzy a paycheck and I bet it wouldn't take long for him to stop hanging around here  :uhoh

Oops.. I hit quote instead of modify.. oh well.. it just gets me one more post closer to LEET!

Keep in mind the TrackIR software will only work with the TrackIR hardware.  Looks like they are running a pretty decent deal on the TIR4 setup (and pro clip) for $120...  Or if you want the latest and greatest the same TIR5 setup will set you back about $170.  You might find a used setup relatively cheap.. I think I saw one on Ebay recently for $50...
