Highlight more than one player
« on: August 12, 2010, 08:05:20 PM »
I think I know the answer, but I will ask anyway.

Is there a way to highlight more than one wingman? If not I will throw that in the wishlist forum. Reason why, for multi-wing squads it makes it a little difficult to see other "squad members."

Thanks,

Papa

I'm pretty sure Cntrl S highlights (squad) but also all that you have on your vox channel...so if your multi wing squad has a single squad vox number all on it should turn orange...or what ever colour you have chosen

The single squad vox works.

Another option is to use the mission tool and have everyone in the mission but that only works if you all fly together.

I like using the mission tool for squadron sorties because it saves on the "what field what plane what runway?" seemingly endless discussion.

Ctrl + S function works as 79th we have multiple wings and all are highlighted by the color, however I did notice that if you go into the briefing room and type in ".sr", it only give you where your wingmates are in, not all the squad.  :salute

The CTRL S command is actually based on AHVox, radio 5, not squad.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

Try tuning to vox 200-299.  Only those in squad will remain in Orange (default color).
I think it works like this;

If a squad member or on same in-country vox will they appear in Orange when Cntrl+S is used.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

I"ve found that my squad members show up highlighted from th eCTRL S command even if they are not on a common vox channel or using the SQUAD on radio V.

As a member of a squad you will always show up highlighted within your squad...some of these squads have 2-3 wings ( reading as separate squads according to the game) and they won't show as one squad (highlighted) unless they have a common VOX number...

I’ve actually wanted this a couple times myself. But I’ll describe a more specific situation where I would have found it usefull. For an FSO (Friday Night Squad Op) my squad will bring 20 to 24 guys to the table. We will break up into divisions of four aircraft. We’ll all be in a Mission, we’ll all be on one VOX channel – usually a numbered channel not “4-Squad”.
Say, for example, I am a section lead in Able-2, the second four plane division out of a 5 division wing (assuming 20 guys). In this circumstance there are two guys I want to keep track of, that I want to be able to pick out quickly, and they are 1) my division lead, so I can get back into formation quickly. 2) my wingman so I know where he is at all times. Up to now I have to pick one or the other. It would be nice to turn both of them white (My wingman color) so I can spot them quickly.
Another time I would like more than one wingman highlighted is when I am the division lead. I would like to have the three other guys in my flight highlighted white, so they stand out against the crowd of yellow squaddies, it would go a long way to increasing my SA.

In both these circumstances it’s not convenient to tune these guys to a different channel, as that would decrease the overall squad communication.
