As mentioned in the comments, these guys got the idea from a Finnish band Apocalyptica. They have been doing this for a while.

i have a DVD and CD combo set with Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony, it surprised me and its now one of my favorite Metallica DVD's  the sound is fantastic with the Orchestra making up most sound, and about halway thru the show you can really see where there getting into the music, smiles on there faces and rocking out, fantastic video, i wish i had a way to upload the DVD for you to enjoy but its to big of a file lol  but i found it on youtube, heres a clip
