Dot Command For Trim Settings?
« on: August 23, 2010, 11:15:37 PM »
Is there a dot command to set trim to a specific place?

For example, if I want the elevator trim 3 clicks below neutral, is there a command that will do this?  I would then assign it to a button on my throttle.

Thanks,

mir

Not specifically no, however there is the "trim set" button that I just learned about.  Hold control inputs  (roll, pitch, yaw) where you want them and hit "." that will trim the plane to maintain that position hands free. Quite useful flying home on one engine. :)

Yeah, you mentioned that one the other night, Soulyss. :)

I was hoping for something that would go to an automatic trim setting that I like using when in the 38.

Right now, I have to manually trim down and zoom in a little bit to see where it is because the red line is hard for me to see.

I guess I can make a new wish in the Wishlist Forum. :)

The Saitek 3-axis controller is nice for adding analog trim control. The AH auto trim overrides the analog trim and when the auto is off it goes to the pre-set analog positions. You you mark a scale for the 38 on it and you could see where you were setting it without looking at the cockpit indicator. You could also use it as a twin throttle and elevator trim control.

Thanks, FLS.  That's pretty cool!  Is it the 3-lever item that comes with the yoke?

I believe it's the same one that comes with their yoke. It also has buttons at one end of each axis as well as the 3 rocker switches. This lets you use a throttle axis for example to toggle engine on/off or the RPM lever to toggle WEP.
