i have a broad band connection but my lag seems to be worse than when i had
dial-up. Unable to provide pings but i average about 50ms. Will post film and include dxdiag.

You can have more lag with a broadband connection than you did with your dial-up connection. It has more to do with how the packets get to where they are going than it does with connection speed.
Run PingPlotter and it can help you trace down where the problem is.
