Hey I just got a joystick

its like 5 years old but I am having trouble setting it up, can anyone help? I have 3 buttons that shoot and nothing increases speed or anything.

What type of stick is it?  If someone else has the same type, they may be able to give you some useful info.

EDIT:  You'd be better served to post things of this nature in the Hardware and Software forum.
