WW1 will end on Sunday
« on: September 29, 2010, 12:49:05 PM »
On Sunday Germany will be making the last payment of 94 million monetary units in reparations for damages it caused during the First World War.  First obligated by the Treaty of Versailles Germany eventually stopped making the required payments when Adolf the cat came to power.

It has been said that the Treaty of Versailles was one of the instigating factors the led to the Second World War.  Let it be over with and a big WTG to Germany for seeing this debt through to its conclusion.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Shreck, the Marshall plan was aid not a loan althought the Germans had to pay it back. Nor was it simply charity. It wasn't in America's interest to have an impoverished unstable Europe, politically and economically. The US came out the war richer and more powerful than it went in and it dominated the world's economy for a long time afterwards and helped make it the country it is today. The Marshall plan was in the USA's best interests too. So perhaps you are crossing the boundary.

In case you want to mention Lend-Lease. The British made their final payment back in 2006, not sure about other countries.

My guess is most people in Europe have no idea what you're talking about.  Heck, I would also venture to say most Americans, maybe not the forum readers here, but most Americans have no idea what you're talking about.
