detonator 5.22 - very very odd...
« on: June 02, 2000, 01:14:00 PM »
Ok guys... followed Saws link to the Detonator 2 drivers and found out that their excactly the 5.22 I already had tried for some time without success...  now being optimistic all the way (still hoping for v1.03   ) I reinstalled them once more - and same effect: windows stopped loading... but since their was an episode of "The Simpsons" on I let my machine running and watched TV... - and before The Simpsons were even finished my machine finished boot - tataaaa... 5.22 drivers running!!! Tested all: FSAA looks awesome but eats a lot of power...  got an increase in FR and no more bumpy runway... so fine so good - but as I rebooted again I found out that I have to wait excactly 20 (TWENTY) minutes for W98 to boot... !!! now this is unacceptable... anyone have a hint?

coming to think that it's mainboard related: using a Gigabyte 6BXS with newest bios

Hi Kirin, sorry to see you still have problems but i think this site may help it is the GEForce FAQ site and has a section on Gigabyte boards as well as delayed boot ups. Some of it may be of help and it has loads of other suggestions and tips to cure most if not all problems anybody may encounter. http://www.tweak3d.net/faq/#hw:gef:troub:inst:gigabyte

5.22 drivers here, no problems booting, but bumpy effect is still here changing AH res or Alt-tabing.

Just a question:
Have you checked "system" under "control panel" to be sure there are no interferences with other devices or even a second display adapter (phantom adapter)?

cav, thx for the advice... gonna look through those boards...

mandoble, before installing I removed all display adapters and booted as PCI standard VGA adapter (as readme says) - no interference there...

what really puzzles me is that my machine DOES boot - but finishes loading after TWENTY minutes!!!

well gonna look through the boards...

You might try a defrag.  It will probably help a little, but 20 minutes means something is truely wrong.

bloom - I don't think that fragmentation has anything to do with my problem... despite I defrag my HDs every 20 days or so my system boots normal with the "old" ELSA drivers...

well if not FSAA & FR boost I want v1.03 so I can have 3D revelator support at least...

Try these 5.30 Detonators

And make sure that Geforce dont share IRQ with other device . Only think that can have the same IRQ is IRQ holder for PCI steering.
